Everytime when mom drives past the Court house near Green Hall, for I’ll sure take a look at the Spice and Rice restaurant at the opposite of the new court house. I tell myself I gonna visit this restaurant one day in the future.

Taking a look at the interior, it’s very nice and classy looking restaurant in a old settlement building. Nicely decorated and with the soft jazz music playing, it feels like being in a high class restaurant and yes it is. It’s located at the corner of Green Hall and just right opposite of the court house.

At first, I thought this restaurant serves western cuisine and mom wanted try out the set lunch. Unfortunately, set lunch is served on weekdays only. After checking out the menu, only then I get a mind of it is a restaurant serving Indian cuisine. It was me and mom and we don’t really know what is nice and good. We don’t really know about Indian food but I’m sure I like it. The waitress was kind enough to do some recommendation to us. Everything is quite expensive, all are above RM10 per dish and rice too except for plain rice.

Spice and Rice #

As usual being in a Indian restaurant, they serves a kind of biscuit as starter or appetizer. I don’t really it because it’s pretty salty.

Here is a Chicken Varuval. It’s dry with a lot of spices. It’s quite nice, the chicken is quite soft and not spicy at all. However the portion is pretty small.

As for this, this is not curry but actually vegetable. It’s called Vege Khajana. It’s assorted or mixed vegetable cooked in some sort of sauce which tasted a bit sweet and spicy. Mom likes this and putting it on top of rice is nice to eat.

We had a plain briyani rice and it’s good. The waitress said that it’s better to order a plain one than those that with chicken or meat in it.

Overall, it’s all nice but I felt it’s too expensive to me. It’s better to go there on the weekdays where set lunch at RM15++ is served. 2 dishes and a briyani cost 2 of us RM43.70. Woah. By the way, it’s a lovely place to dine at night and I like the environment a lot.
