Ipoh Tauge Chicken #

I went to Ipoh last weekend while on the way going back to Penang from Kuala Lumpur. We stopped by to have lunch there, dad decided to bring us to eat their famouse beansprout chicken. It’s not actually beansprout cook with chicken meat but then it’s 2 separated dishes. Onn Kee Restaurant was the place we had our lunch, it’s a famouse restaurant in Ipoh and have been visited by many Asia’s celebrities.

Ipoh Tauge Chicken # by you.

Frankly, it’s my first time eating beansprout chicken in Ipoh. I have visit to Ipoh for so many times but this was my first time. It’s really very nice, the chicken meat is nice to chew, it’s soft and well-cooked. The beansprout, which we called it Taugeh in Hokkien is quite nice too, it looks like a fat beansprout. I noticed a lot of my friends don’t like beansprout, but then I am not with them, I do eat beansprout. =)

Didn’t ordered rice, instead we ordered Hor Fun, or more likely to be known as Kuey Teow in Penang. They called this flat rice noodle in Ipoh as Hor Fun. If we asked for rice, it will had become chicken rice, but then I have ate a lot of chicken rice, so Hor Fun was for a try and it’s quite smoothy.

As for side dishes, there’s a bowl of fish ball. I got to say that this is not a nice one, fish ball here in Penang is more delicious then that. I believe the fish balls are not handmade but bought packet from supermarket. =)

    Hi Nick,
Next time, when you eat at the famous chicken beansprout place, ask them to debone everything. Then, the meat melts in your mouth.
There is this special place in Ipoh that I go to on the most beautiful street in Ipoh with corkscrew bushes, Jln Raja Di Hilir. It is a colonial house serving Australian Western food called Indulgence. When you eat there, you would have thought you died and went to heaven. I think it is one of the best kept secret in Malaysia. Try the salmon sandwich or any pasta dishes and don't forget the dessert. Expensive but worth every penny and the ambiance is unsurpassed.
Ipoh has 2 very good nonya restaurants that I have tried which is very good. One of them is called 1919 and the other one is downtown, but I forgot the name. Both are excellent. There is a coffee shop restaurant that served dry bah kut teh to die for, a famous bak chang place and a fishball, seafood place that was super good but we paid 400 ringgit for 4 people for breakfast. It was great but 400 RM was a bit too steep for breakfast. lol
  • i like ipoh hor fun~~
  • Мне очень нравится
  • I also like the Ipoh 'Nga Choi Kai'. Yummy.
You should try their meatball instead of fishball :)
