Recently, I found a place for me to sit down, read some novel or magazine while listening to the music and drinking some bottomless beverage. It’s not McDonald’s or Starbucks, it’s Sushi King.
The green tea provided is free and it’s bottomless, you get unlimited refill with it. I like to ordered 2 plate of low price sushi, as low as RM2, eat really very slowly and I relax there. You don’t eat sushi quickly because as you tend to eat it quickly, you will crave for it more, so it’s better to eat slowly, let it to digest slowly, and drink a cup of tea and you will be full.
The one thing that doesn’t make it a perfect spot for people to stay long is there’s no Wifi connection in the restaurant. People will tend to sit for a long time if there’s Wifi connection, etc McDonald’s and Starbucks Coffee.
There’s a little stall at Perak Lane (Lorong Perak) that make very delicious frog and seafood porridge. People living around that area may know about this place already and sometimes the place is full of people and have to wait for sometimes until the porridge to be serve. You can pick the choice of porridge or been hoon (rice noodle).
(Frog 田鸡tian2ji1 Porridge)
The specialty about this porridge is the soup, it’s very delicious and the sweetness is special, the sweetness is not from the sugar but from the seafood and frog. One of their famous seafood is the crab so maybe during your next visit, you can order the crab porridge to try it out.
It’s located at the junction of the very end of Lorong Perak (Perak Lane) with Jalan Jelutong.
You love Ikea, I love Ikea and I think everyone loves Ikea, not only for their cool minimalist design furniture and accersories but also the food at their restaurant. I first came to know about their restaurant and food two years ago with a recommendation from my brother who is a frequent visitor of their Singapore store. I didn’t have many chance to visit Ikea because it’s a 4 hours ride from my place which is 400km far away from my home, so which means it’s not in Penang, not anywhere near to me in town or out of town. It’s in another city, it’s in Kuala Lumpur which is the only Ikea in Malaysia. If Ikea will to open one in Penang, I’ll be really very happy.
The restaurant is always full of people and the queue at the food counter is long though fast moving. This is the efficient of self service and many workers working at the counter.
Here’s our all time favourite which is the Ikea Swedish Meatballs. I asked for extra gravy when ordering the food. You can have a choice of french fries or mashed potato but I like fries more.
Another nice food is their fried chicken wings ala Ikea style. Why I said it’s Ikea style because it’s taste different from my grandma’s cook. Hehe. Nevertheless, both are still delicious.
Here come our little dessert with a little Swedish flag on top. This is called the Daim Cake. Well, it’s sweet! =) Thin and cruncy and cold.
Thanks to Chin Ping’s mother for giving me this chocolate. She read that I didn’t receive any chocolate on Valentine’s Day and so she got me a chocolate and I am so happy right now, first chocolate gift in my life I guess. =) Thank you auntie so much! It’s a chocolate all the way from Singapore.
