There’s a noodle chain store in Guangzhou that has a very funny English name, it’s called Let Me In but in doesn’t means Let Me In in Chinese. It’s 靓面轩 (cantonese:leng min hin). It’s famous for the Wan Tan Noodle (Wan Tan Mee).

I went there before for breakfast during my Guangzhou trip and it’s located on the Shang Xia Jiu Pedestrian Street just right across the Holiday Inn Shifu Hotel.It’s very easy to find.

The waitress recommended their Zi Zun Wan Tan Mee 自尊云吞面. I ordered a bowl to try out and seriously it’s good. I like the noodle very much, very springy and crunch, it’s not soft and the soup tasted good too. There’s a few wan tan balls lying below the noodle and it’s big.

One thing that all the Wan Tan Mee in Guangzhou is soup based and not like here that we get to choose between dry or soup.

Besides that, I ordered a vegetable in oyster sauce for side dish. Compairing this with the same thing here in Malaysia, it’s not so oily.

From what I’ve known, Let Me In can be found in several location in Guangzhou, it’s a noodle chain store.

Grill Bombay Chicken at Manila Place

Manila Place is not in Philiphines but in Gurney Plaza Penang. It’s also not a restaurant that serves Filipino’s food but a combination of local of western cuisine. So, it’s more likely a beautiful restaurant/cafe with a variety of food in the menu.

A few weekends ago, my friend invited for a dinner at Manila Place. In fact, it’s my first time having a meal there. The previous was just buying a beverage takeaway and another visit was an afternoon tea without eating, but looking at what my friend ate. Which means, this was my official first time eating out at Manila Place.

After looking through the menu, it didn’t give me a “reasonable price” feeling. There’s a set dinner menu and I picked the chicken set, which then I got to choose from a list of chicken meal in the menu but not Chicken Gordon Blue. My friend who had worked there as a part-timer before introduced me to this Grilled Bombay Chicken, I ordered it.

The set came with a starter of mushroom soup, bread and butter, and 2 pieces or fried wan tan.

The main course is the Grilled Bombay Chicken. Looked pretty in photo. After putting it in my mouth, the gravy tasted like the dalcha sauce which is use in some Malay/Indian food, it’s just it’s not spicy but sweet. No wonder it’s called the Bombay Chicken.

In my 2 cents, it’s me, myself that don’t really like this dish, it’s a good one, but it’s just not my favourite.

After main course, a very small cup of ice cream will be served and that’s the set dinner consisted of.

Manila Place is located at the alfresco area of Gurney Plaza.

Recently, I went to Kocha Taiwanese Restaurant at Burma Road for lunch. What I had ordered was the 3 Cups Chicken (as direct translate from Chinese 三杯鸡 san1 bei1 ji1). I don’t really know why it is called the 3 Cups Chicken but after eating it, it’s something nice and delicious. The chicken is cooked in Chinese style with soya sauce, not too salty, with extra spices and ingredient which I am not familiar with.

It’s a set meal that I had ordered which comes with 2 vegetable side dish, a soup, a dessert, fruits and a drink. It’s good that I can say. =)

It’s located on the junction of Jalan Kimberly and Jalan Burma. You will see it as you cruise along Jalan Burma, on your left.

Peppermint from USA

My friend brought this to school. A very nice looking tin of peppermint which his sister bought back from USA recently. The tin is made in China while the mint is made in USA.
