I understand your frustration, you should complain to their manager so their service could be improve. I agree that some of the waiters are not friendly enough. Last time they were like simply ask us to look for a place to sit.

Service is horrible!! Went there on a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy but not THAT busy. There were still empty tables available. We patiently waited to be seated. NO ONE came to greet us or bring us to our table. We were TOATLLY IGNORED by the waiters. We then looked for a table on our own. We sat next to a s**t-for-brains couple who were smoking. There were children around and they were smoking in an air-conditioned restaurant. The staff did nothing. Isn't smoking in an air-conditioned restaurant forbidden? We then swiched tables away for the smokers. Only then the waiter came over after being told quite loudly by the senior waiter that the table we were sitting was reserved. There was no sign on the table indicating that the table was reserved. Naturally we spewed on the waiter. Then we walked out. I am NEVER going to this resuatrant again. Strictly for those who love being ignored and ill-treated by waiters.

Nick, I love German food too. You should try Oktoberfest in Penang. But it has a lot of drinking which you are not ready.
Anyway, wurst means sausage in German. Currywurst would be sausage topped with curry powder flavoring. They usually sell it as a pushcart fast food in Germany.
The pork cutlet, breaded and fried and then topped with a brown sauce is called schnitzel. It is very German. It would be the equivalent of Penang curry chicken or Nasi Lemak. If they served it with very short noodles like chendol length, it is called spaetzle. That is really good and made fresh. I enjoy your postings because I am also a foodie. One day, you will get to travel the world and really taste the authentic meals. In the meantime, I suggest that you review what Penang does best. Hawkers food.
As the saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans.

But I am glad you are doing fine dining, because I really enjoy that too.
Btw (by the way) have you found a great Italian restaurant yet in Penang?
