Last weekend, I went to join the kids sushi making class organized by Penang Foyi’s welfare group, a buddhist society here. I am not a kids but my friend was the organizer and she asked me to join in for fun and so I went. It’s held at Sushi King, Prangin Mall.

There’s like over 40 kids at there and everyone was so anxious about the class. I did sushi myself before but it was quite a failed one because I’ve forgotten to mix the vinegar with sugar and salt.

They thought us some simple Japanese term on food. Then rice mixing and the important part which people always forget is mix vinegar with sugar and salt. This is very important or else the rice would be tasteless. Pour vinegar on a mixing bowl or cup or anything, then add in sugar and salt. Don’t really need a lot, you can try the taste with your finger until and sweet and salty feel. Only then pour the mixed vinegar into your cooked Japanese rice.

We did have a little hands on. But only did 2 sushi. It’s for the kids and it’s not really a real hands on because they gave us rice that’s already shaped by machine and we only needed to wrap it with crabstick and nori sheet. And their nori sheet is nicely cut already, unlike what we bought from the supermarket.

Guess the best part of the day was having the little sushi bento and learning about mixing vinegar with sugar and salt. Haha. I’m gonna try it again at home because I failed last time. My sushi was pretty tasteless.

I am sure the kids did have a good time at there.

Arron, a good friend of mine treated us Chili’s last Friday and this is not a food review. It’s basically, food that we’ve ordered. The night was not concentrated on the food, but was about spending last crazy moment as he had went to Kuala Lumpur to further his studies.

Awesome eating place, awesome food, but bad outdoor environment because there’s loud speaker blasting off music in conjunction with World Cup 2010 which makes talking and communicating difficult.

I don’t really go Chili’s always, because of the pricing and I am a poor person, I need more sponsors. Haha. Everytime I go to Chili’s I ordered the same food, it’s either Fajitas or Quesadillas. This time I wanted to try something different and spent like 5-10 minutes looking at the menu and ordered a Firecrackers Fish Fillet. Wanted to try something different and picked their seafood.

So, let’s get into some food porn now. =D

Ok, here’s mine. Firecracker Fish Fillet. I tell you what, I don’t really like the taste of the rice. The fish is ok but not the rice, maybe it’s too western or what. Garlic rice is so much better IMO. The taste is, weird. I like fajitas more.

Looking at the photo, do you think it’s nice? Red Box is one of my favourite hang out place but I seldom have my meal there. Sometimes feel like killing a bird with two stone, save money for lunch and KTV at the same time, so I go there during lunch hour. But actually save nothing, cause after KTV, I will feel hungry again and go eat again.

So last week, I went to K Lunch, 11am-2pm, lunch was included and I ordered the Spaghetti with Minced Curry Chicken. To make it simple, it’s bolognese but curry sauce. Tasted very asian and oriental and myself favor the bolognese more. But it’s not bad afterall.

Nothing much to comment, the vegetarian food, in fact some other food, not-vegetarian sucks too at the Malaysian National Service Camp, the camp I was in was Kem PLKN White Resort. You can’t expect much, some times the food is good, some times the good is not, some times you like it, some times you don’t. It’s a camp, you can’t look for good food except self-cooked instant noodle and tidbits which rock. =D

What I loved the most in the camp was the fried chicken ala Malay style and scramble eggs. But somehow, the canteen operator was very selfish who only take a little scramble egg for people.

I took the Aeroline bus from Penang down to Kuala Lumpur, the bus is not like typical intercity express bus, but it’s something more luxurious with food and drinks served just like in an airplane, except there’s 4 wheels. LOL.

They have different menu for different time, I heard there’s nasi lemak, fried bee hoon, chicken rice and also Subway sandwich. As for my time, I took the morning bus at 1030am, they served me Chicken Rice. It’s warm and surprisingly the chicken was not bad, except for the rice, doesn’t taste like chicken rice to me. The gravy was nice when eating with the rice and chicken.

Nothing much to intro about this place because I’ve written about it before. It’s the famous and delicious Malay food stall in Tanjung Tokong. People lives nearby knows about it and it’s really nice and I go there for lunch quite often, with dad and mom. Although I have been eating Malay food for quite some times in camp but Malay food outside and inside camp is so so much different. Inside the camp, it sucks (only good sometimes).

I bought this to National Service camp but I only ate one or two chocolate chips flavour biscuit. I am not a biscuit person and this served as my emergency food in camp. But somehow, most of them were consumed by my Malay friends in camp. ^.^ Now I came back already, the whole thing still haven’t finish and I left it there for them.

I went to Ipoh two weeks ago and I was staying at my friend, Bin’s place. In the morning, her dad bought us Ipoh famous salted chicken for breakfast and it’s delicious! I love Ipoh salted chicken. Although there’s Penang made Ipoh salted chicken but I’ve never tried it before. I like Ipoh’s.

The salted chicken was bought from Aun Kheng Lim and this Aun Kheng Lim is located on 24, Jalan Theatre, 30300 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. Google Map it! =) Apologize for not really know the way around Ipoh.

Didn’t feel like eating rice and wanted to eat some hawker food so I went to Pulau Tikus Market hawker stalls to scope for some hawker food. Same again, 6 weeks I never go to hawker stall already but my parents did buy me hawker food during Sunday visit for National Service (PLKN).

At first I was thinking to eat Wan Tan Mee, but somehow this big Hokkien Mee signboard on the stall caught my attention and I was thinking “Hmm. When does a Hokkien Mee stall appear here?” Because there wasn’t a Hokkien Mee stall there and it was far far away at the end of the market. Could this be a new one?

I can’t resist myself to order a bowl to try it. I ordered instant noodle typed, there’s egg, little bit of vegetable, a little bit of meat and very tiny prawn. My verdict is, not good enough. Somehow, I still like the one at Lebuh Presgrave. I’ll show you guys next time. =)

Yesterday afternoon I went to Grandma’s place and she cooked 4 dishes for lunch and all of them were damn nice!
