I went to try out a new western food stall in Tanjung Bungah. Not sure whether heard about it before or not? It’s located in the little food court right opposite The Cove Condominium, near to Copthorne Orchid Hotel. Outside the food court, there’s actually a sign writing “Famous Fish & Chips”, so we went in to try it out.

The little western food stall is called Max Deli Western Delight. There’s a lot of choices of local style western food.

I ordered myself a mushroom soup with garlic bread as an appertizer, I was hungry at that time. The soup is creamy, but not it still can be cremier. Though, there’s a lot of mushroom which I like.

This is the Max Deli Grilled Chicken. At first, I ordered a Grilled Black Pepper Chicken but I’ve decided to change it to this because with the name Max Deli, I thought it was their special dish like the Chicken Special at Pulau Tikus. Well, I got to say this is just very normal dish to me, taste more or like a Chinese dish, with lots of onion. I should have tried others than this.

This is what they called the London Fish and Chips. It’s just simillar to the one in Breeks Cafe. This is a lot better than the Max Deli Grilled Chicken. Though, it still can be more crispier. Overall, this is not a bad one, you can give it a try.

Unfortunately, the food court is not very well-maintained and clean, though there’s still a lot of people having meal there in the evening.

It was the Chinese Nine Emperor God Festival, it’s a kind of Taoism tradision and belief, some people have been eating vegetarian food for the past 9 days. As for me, I only ate it on the last day of Nine Emperor God Festival and it was yesterday.

Vegetarian food stall have been set up during the festival and have be pulled down because the festival has past. Fearing that the food stall is already closed on the last day, we went to a vegeterian restaurant to be safe to eat some nice vegetarian food for dinner.

It is an all time restaurant selling vegetarian food, no meat located in Pulau Tikus on Jalan Cantonment right opposite Maybank. You will see a big yellow logo writing a Chinese word 素 (mandarin:su1) which mean vegetarian. The restaurant name is called Evergreen Vegetarian Restaurant.

Because it was the Nine Emperor God Festival, there’s a lot of people there eating out. It’s self service, get your food, pay right away and look for your own seat.

I didn’t eat rice for that dinner. I ordered a vegetarian Char Hor Fun (Fried Hor Fun). It’s just replacing the meat and prawn with tao pok and a vegetarian food that taste like meat. The Char Hor Fun taste is still there I got to tell you that this is quite nice. Good try for me.

Mom then got some food for us as side dish. It’s all vegetarian and we got vegetable, crispy vegetarian meat (like the meat in burger), something that taste like char siew and another one that taste like fish. The taste is getting a little bit same like the real meat but then I believe in the future, there will be artificial meat which is from animal. Though, there’s a lot of chemical in making these, so it’s better to stay we the greens.

In addition for your reference, you can take a look at the vegetarian dish served during the Nine Emperor God Festival. =)

I like Bubble Tea or in Taiwan, it’s also called the Boba tea. It’s a kind of beverage with various types of flavour with the presense of chewy translucent balls of pear tapioca. In short meaning, it is little round chewable, edible jelly ball.

The original one is 珍珠奶茶 (mandarin:zhen1 zhu1 nai3 cha2) which literally means pearl milk tea. It’s milk and tea with the chewy ball. I like the blue colour one which is called champagne flavoured 香槟 (mandarin:xiang1 bing1)

However, Gurney Drive is not the best one. I am still in search for a nice bubble tea. Any idea? The one at Kocha is quite nice too.

I have visited Chili’s Grill Bar and Restaurant last Thursday at Gurney Plaza to celebrate a birthday for my friend and it’s also a little farewell gathering. It was my 2nd time visiting to Chili’s, the first time was one year ago and now I am there again.

It’s a restaurant from United State and offering Mexican-American food. We spent half an hour looking at the menu and did not know what to eat and in the end, we asked for the recommendation from the chef.

As for starter, we got a Triple Dipper. It has chicken wings, eggrolls and another one taste like prawn or tempura. From what the menu, it says Chicken Crispers, Boneless Buffalo Wings and Southwestern Eggrolls. I like the chicken wing and I like the egg roll, it’s nice when dipping it in the honey-mustard sauce and blue cheese.

This is not a dish or ice cream or salad. It’s actually the sour cream, guacamole, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo. I don’t what’s that all except the greens taste like Chinese’ salted vegetable. All these are to eat with the fajitas.

From the menu, there’s a recommeded logo on the Mushroom Jack Fajitas but I did not order that because I’ve tried it before last time. This time, I ordered something different and it’s the combo sizzling fajitas. It has beef and chicken and also vegetable. It’s a little bit like tepanyakki but this is quite nice. Though, I prefer Mushroom Jack Fajitas because it has mushroom. I love mushrooms. =)

Lastly, the 2nd main course is the Fajita Quesadillas which is chicken and steak with grilled onions and some chesse in the toasted tortillas. It’s different from the combo fajita because that one is you wrap yourself and this is already in it. The tortilla is a bit like the Malay’s chapati but this is nicer. =)

Tips by email2me :

When you go chilis, you should order the tortilla chips with the cold salsa sauce dip. UNLIMITED REFILL !!! EAT ALL YOU CAN!!! at a flat price RM9.90 Sauce and Chip both unlimited

Then order one unlimited sodas or juice …… one big bags of straw …. whole party can share ….. this is the lamest I can think of. But who cares …. nowadays economy are bad you know …. lol

Looking for some nice Chinese restaurant in Penang? Here I got one that I always visit. It’s Feng Wei 风味 Chinese Restaurant that located on Jalan Sri Bahari which is also right opposite The Ship In Town (Western Cuisine).

It’s open during lunch hour and during dinner time, so in between this two time, the restaurant is off for break.

Most of my visit to the restaurant is during lunch time.

Let’s get into the food. There’s only 3 people and we ordered 3 dishes and it’s enough to us.

First, we got vegetable, kangkung fried with sambal and shrimps. Not very spicy but taste good.

Next is the black pepper fish fillet in pieces with lots of onion. This is quite nice as that was the first time trying this.

One of their famous dish is this Chinese Softshell Turtle in a pot (cantones: shui2 yu2 bo4). Cooked with mushrooms and other chinese spices, the gravy is nice to eat with rice and you should this out.

Last but not least, there’s a dessert for us. It’s a hot homecooked soya bean juice.

I noticed that there’s a lot of tourist as well as local like to visit the restaurant. They do have room for private function like a family gathering.

Located on Jalan Sri Bahari. Click here for the map.

It’s an early Hari Raya morning, a lot of Nasi Kandar restaurants is off for one day and dad brought me to a restaurant at Tanjung Bungah. It’s not actually an Indian restaurant but it’s run by Indians and it’s actually a multi cuisine restaurant which it speaks from the signboard in front of the restaurant.

People has been telling me they got nice roti canai and we went to try it out in the morning for breakfast. It’s located on Jalan Tanjong Bungah and is just right opposite the Crown Jewel Prince Hotel, Sandy Beach Hotel and the Dalat International School.

It’s morning and I can see tourist having their meals there as well as some locals. It’s a restaurant that has a nice pretty nice interior which more or like to attract tourist. They do serve western food as well as some local cuisine and I think the main attractive food is the roti canai, tandori and sort of.

The main food that we were to eat was the Roti Canai. We ordered a few pieces and asked for oiless one. It’s actually not oiless, but it’s less oily than what you normal order. To me, all roti canai is the same but this one with less oil is nice. Though, if it’s crispier like Roti Prata in Singapore, then it will be good.

The dalcha gravy for the roti canai was nice but then we ordered a curry chicken for the roti canai. I’ll say this is nice, it’s a little bit spicy and I like that the chicken is cut into small pieces so it’s easy to eat. Do ask for more gravy, it’s very little.

I ordered a plate of Maggi Goreng or known as Fried Maggi Noodle (a kind of instant noodle). It’s different from what I had at a mamak store, it’s nothing near to like a maggi mee. To me, I’ll say I like the one at the mamak store than this one. Waited 15 minutes for this and I think I won’t be ordering this again on my next visit.

As for the price, it’s a little bit more than mamak store because it’s a restaurant with nice table and chairs, wifi and located in a tourist area. That’s explain the pricing but it’s still not very expensive.
