Thanks to my sponsors (do support my sponsor =]), I have got my paycheck and decided to buy some donuts home to treat my parents.

I went there and saw a lot of flavour and didn’t know what to pick.

Since no need to waste my time picking, I got that one home. The tiny little mini donuts were cute and very fast to eat finish because it’s small.

I am not really a donuts guy, I don’t know what the difference between donuts made by different donuts cafe, I think they are all the same. What do you think? Which donuts cafe you prefer?

We usually eat minced (pork) meat rice out there but at Old Town, it’s minced chicken instead of pork because they are Halal restaurants.

One Saturday afternoon, I was at Queenbay Mall, hungry and didn’t want to spend a lot on lunch so I went to Old Town which once was my favourite eating-out place when it first opened in Penang, but sooner I got bored on their food so I didn’t go there quite some times already until that afternoon.

Went through the menu, I wanted something that can fill my stomach well and I needed rice, so I ordered something that I haven’t tried before, their Homemade Minced Chicken with Flavoured Rice.

Served with an egg and plenty of minced chicken meat, it tasted salty and something new to me. It did filled my stomach full but somehow for RM8.30, I think it’s a little bit expensive for just minced chicken and an egg.

Quite some time that I have not been to Chopper Board for meal. I was at Queensbay Mall last weekend and I was on tight budget, didn’t want to spend a lot on food and didn’t want to go to the food court neither, so Chopper Board was where I went for dinner. It’s in one of my budget-restaurant list.

After going through the menu, I saw this new Teriyaki Fish Rice the price is not over RM10, so I ordered it to try out. It gave me a surprise when it’s here because there’s only 5 little pieces of fish fillet and a big bowl of rice with the sweet teriyaki sauce and cost the same price as a plate of spaghetti bolognese that they serve. It’s just too little and I am not ordering this again.

Queensbay Mall is a place where you can find a various of restaurant for you meal. There’s 2 Hong Kong food restaurant in Queensbay Mall, one is Kim Gary and another is Canton-i. If you may have not know, Canton-i is brought to you buy the same company of the famous Shanghai’s Siao Long Bao restaurant, Dragon-i.

I love Chinese Hong Kong food a lot and recently I’ve been there with my family. I didn’t know where it was at first until I asked from the lady at the information counter and then she guided me to it. It’s located on the ground floor on the North Zone of the mall.

Before coming here, I read some reviews online and heard about friends talked about it, most of their comment were about the price, it’s indeed a little bit expensive comparing to other Hong Kong food restaurant.

We ordered egg tart. There’s 4 of us, but there’s only 3 tarts. The filling is hot when it’s served. The side of the tart was not crispy enough though. The sweetness is just right but then I’ll say it’s still not the best egg tart in town yet. You can try this and tell me what do you think.

This is a plate of Roasted Pork / Siu Yok (Cantonese) / Sio Bak (Hokkien) / Shao Rou (Mandarin) and roasted duck. The roasted pork is nicely cut and the skin at the top part of the meat is crispy though this taste a little bit salty. A dip in mustard taste good. As for the roasted duck, I like this more than the roasted pork because the roasted pork still lose to the one at Crystal Jade Kitchen (it’s just my 2 cents).

2 must ordered dim sum at every restaurant that has dim sum in their menu are the Har Kao 虾饺 and Siu Mai 烧卖. Har Kao is Chinese dumplings fill with shrips while Siu Mai is also dumplings but with chopped shrimp and ground pork fillings. I seriously don’t like the idea of serving 3 Har Kaos with the price of RM9 per plate which mean RM3 per Har Kao. This indeed sounds expensive.

Let’s not talk about the price for a moment and back to the food. It’s a little bit salty which makes me felt thirsty after eating it. The shrimp is huge enough in Har Kao and surprisingly the Siu Mai too has big shrimp. Though, I just had that say that they’re “so-so” only. The taste just haven’t make feels like it’s bombastic and superb. Hehe.

Some other foods that we ordered were the Yao Choy 油菜, mixed noodle combo of roasted pork and wan tan and a wan tan noodle.

Yao Choy is always our favourite dish and will-order when we’re at a Hong Kong food restaurant, it’s also known as the Asian cabbage. However this Yao Choy tasted a little bit light, I suggest more oyster sauce should be added while cooking. Hehe. As for the Wan Tan, it’s good so do the noodle. The noodle is crisp and it’s not like any noodle in the street here. The mixed combo is just the same noodle but it’s serves dried with the roasted pork and a bowl of 2 Wan Tans.

One thing I don’t like was that we payed the service tax but we still have to go to the counter to do our billing. I don’t like this. Sorry that I have to say that I prefer Crystal Jade Kitchen than this. Though, it’s good to see such a nice restaurant in Penang. I suggest that price of food should be lowered too. Hehe. What do you think?

Canton-i is at Queensbay Mall North Zone.

Ha! Lunch at Breeks Cafe in Queensbay Mall, but I was just sitting on the chair, enjoying a glass of sky juice in a glass with a Colgate logo on the bottom of it, looking at what my friends were eating. Yes, I did not eat there because I’ve already had something before going to Queensbay Mall to meet my friend. Hence, my mission was to take photo of my friends’ orders and ask for their comment.

The Colgate logo on the bottom of the glass that I was mentioning about is on the photo. I was wondering that is it Colgate sponsors Breeks Cafe or Breeks get their cool glass by buying Colgate toothpaste when they are giving glasses as free gift? Cut that crap, the glass is not important, what it is, is the food!

Black Pepper Chicken Chop with some french fries. The chicken chop is very small and if the sauce taste a little not so pepperish or sweeter will be nice. The chicken is just like the one I had at Hometown Kopitiam at Damansara Uptown. What’s different is the price, this one at Breeks is approximately RM15 while the one I had at Hometown Kopitam was only RM9.90. I got to say that this is not worth at all.

BBQ Half Chicken with BBQ Sauce, served with rice and some vegetable. For RM19.90, the chicken is big, the sauce is nice, though I prefer it’s mashed potato instead of rice. My friend Chien Chern, who had this said it was nice.

Fish and Chips. Big fish fillet, little french fries and some coleslaw. What I got was “Not bad“. I’ve tried and I’ll got to say that Fish and Chips at Manhattan Fish Market is more worthwhile and more delicious and more fries. =)

In conclusion, decent nice food but with expensive price tag at a nice cafe with free Wifi (request for password) that serves nice coffee which is cheaper than at Starbucks Coffee. What do you think?

The first Manhattan Fish Market outlet in Penang is in Queensbay Mall and the 2nd one is coming to you at Gurney Plaza. Before its existence in Penang, there’s already a similar restaurant at Gurney Plaza, Penang called Fish & Co.

Personally, I like Fish & Co’s fish and chips and I like the seafood platter of Manhattan Fish Market. But now the Fish & Co outlet at Gurney Plaza is closed already to make way for the new extension, I’m not sure will it be opened again.

I like fish and chips! Ask for more tartar sauce, garlic and chilli sauce. The chips is nice too.

Everytime, when the waiter comes to fire up the prawn on the seafood platter for a deep fried look, we will get excited. Haha. The seafood platter is very nice and can makes one very full. Love the prawn, the fried oyster, the fish fillet and there’s a lot of squid. The garlic rice is delicious too. It’s for two and perhaps 3 too.

Manhattan Fish Market is available at a lot of mall in Klang Valley.
