Carls Jr by you.

On my visit to Kuala Lumpur, I got to try one of the famous fast food restaurant, the Carls Jr that’s not available in Penang or else where outside Kuala Lumpur. Brother brought me and a cousin there to have our burger meal.

It’s located on the basement of Pavilion and on the deep end of the mall. It’s quite quiet there but there’s where all the fast food restaurants are situated at.

Well, I got to say that it’s not just a normal burger, it’s bigger than McDonald’s and more expensive than McDonald’s and taste better than McDonald’s, though it still can fight with Burger King. Ramli’s burger is good but both are different thing, I’ll say.

You can try out their chili’s fries. It taste good, there’s some beef sauce on it and it’s not really very spicy and it’s good.

Eating Carls Jr’s burger is not like eating McDonald’s or any other burger. That’s what my brother thought me and here I am teaching you HIS way of eating Carls Jr’s.

Let’s see the filling of burger first. This is the Superstar. There’s a bar in every Carls Jr.’s restaurant for you to get some sauce, some extra vege to fill into your burger and also the soft drinks self-service refill machine. What you gonna do is get as many vege fillings and the sauce as possible.

They do provide sauce plate but don’t use it, use the cup’s lid to fill your vegetables as mush as possible. You will gonna need a lot of it to make it taste very very very good, though it’s already good without them but you want to make it superb.

Now hold the the burger with both hands, squeeze it until there’s an opening in between. Now you pour in your vege fillings and the sauce. Then EAT IT. You will refill your vegetable as many times until you finish, because it taste just so good with it.

You are now worrying that sauce everywhere, vegetable fillings everywhere on the table and you get your hands very dirty, no worry because It’s gonna get messy, that’s what the tagline told us. There’s a lot of tissue paper on the table, so no worry.

It’s messy.

Lastly, we refilled the whole big cup of soft drinks and got off. One cup, many person shares, that’s so nice.

I got something to show you, it’s the same pose of me holding a soft drink cup 4 years ago.

Form 1, 13 years old, with Burger King. =) Different hand though. Ignore the Burger King, this is about Carls Jr. now.

By the way, sorry for the bad quality, they’re taken from my cell.

I went to McDonald’s for lunch today and wanted to order a Big Mac. Later then, I saw a new burger right next to Big Mac burger poster and it’s Big N’ Tasty. Since there’s a new word on it, I ordered it instead of Big Mac for a try. It’s RM10.30 before tax. I got to tell you that everything in McDonald’s is getting more expensive now, need to pay more than the red paper note RM10 because of the taxes.

Anyway, let’s check out the burger. When I saw it, it gives no surprise to me. It’s just like a normal Big Mac but with a bigger piece of beef in my opinion, more vegetable, tomatoes slices and a piece of cheese.

From wikipedia,

The Big N’ Tasty is a hamburger, consisting of a quarter-pound, or 4 ounces (110 g), beef patty, sesame seed bun, lettuce, tomato slice, mayonnaise, ketchup, chopped onions, two pickle slices, and grill seasoning. Cheese can be added on request.

The Big Tasty configuration is somewhat different, consisting of a third-pound beef patty, 5-inch sesame seed bun, square-cut lettuce, two tomato slices, Big Tasty sauce (which has a smoke flavor), sliced onions and three slices of Emmental cheese.

Somehow, after trying this I tell myself I’m gonna stick with Big Mac or Chicken McDeluxe next time. It’s just, er…. expensive.

Now, with every large value male or a la carte of large french fries, you get the shaker powder for free.

If I am not mistaken, it’s doing a promotion right now. RM9 for a the set of Happy Ricebox Set with a drinks (mostly Vsoy soya bean). I have finally tried to XXL Crispy Chicken of Shih Lin Taiwan Street Snack Corner, it’s with rice because I ordered the happy ricebox set. It is said that the original price is RM11 but currently it’s doing a promotion, so it’s cheaper.

The Happy Ricebox Set consist of XXL Crispy Chicken, cold toufu, some salted vegetable, century egg and rice. Although the promotional poster there says that it include “drinks of your choice” but then they only serve VSOY soya bean and mineral water.

Overall, it’s something that can filled my stomach. The chicken is nice and boneless. It’s that they gives too little of vegetable, eat more vegetable is good for health. The toufu is special because it’s a cold one, and there’s the sweet century egg.

What do you think?

P/S: Surprisingly, the worker who is not a Chinese can speak mandarin. =)

SHIH LIN TAIWAN STREET SNACK has just opened an outlet at Gurney Plaza.

Just when I know about the new outlet at Gurney Plaza in Penang, I’ve went to try out. I miss the Oyster Mee Sua that I had a year ago in Singapore. That was the first time I get to know about Shih Lin which my brother who lives in Singapore introduced to me.

(Singapore’s Shihlin)

There’s another outlet in Penang and that is in Queensbay Mall near the Jusco supermarket. In Gurney Plaza, it’s located at the basement area.

And the above is the Shihlin at Gurney Plaza. The eating area is a little bit, the little bar on the side can only sit a maximum of 6 person.

They served only a few food, but I haven’t tried it all yet. I only have tried the Handmade Oyster Mee Sua. There’s the famous XXL Crispy Chicken, then Seafood Tempura, and Crispy Floss Egg Crepe. All of the food is below RM10 and without any taxes which I like the most.

Cut the talking and get into the Handmade Oyster Mee Sua. Mee Sua is a kind of very thin rice noodle. There’s chicken floss and a 3 fresh cooked oyster. When comparing to the Oyster Mee Sua by 600CC, this is better because the oyster is bigger than the one in 600CC though 600CC has more little oyster. As for taste, this taste more delicious to me but it was spicy. Do ask for less chilli. =) People don’t eat with a chopstick but with a spoon only instead.

Not bad, can give it a try. Next time, I’ll gonna try the XXL Crispy Chicken.

(Rong Zhi and the McShaker fries)

The McShakers french fries is back at our local McDonald’s store! It’s like only available in McDonald’s once a year. The last time was the seaweed flavour and currently it’s Hot and Spicy. Order a McShakers fries, put your fries into a paper bag, pour in the packet of hot and spicy powder, shake it, eat it. Delicious.

It’s RM4.40 for a large McShaker fries. If you order a large McValue meal, you get to upgrade to the McShaker fries for free. =)

Yoshinoya is a fast food chain selling Japanese beef bowl and some other Japanese food. I was first introduced by my brother few years back in Kuala Lumpur. There’s a few outlet in Kuala Lumpur but unfortunately none in Penang.

Yoshinoya

It’s pretty famous in Hong Kong. It’s always full housed there but I don’t see the crowds here in Malaysia. In Singapore, sometimes.

Beef Bowl

So many times of visit to Yoshinoya, I have never change my order before. Every time is the same famous Beef Bowl. It’s selling for about RM9 for a beef bowl and a soft drink while around RM15 for additional soup, a pudding and a salad.

Maybe during my next visit to Kuala Lumpur, I’ll order other food at Yoshinoya, but I miss the Beef Bowl! Wonder when will the first outlet to be open in Penang?
