Recently, I went to Kocha Taiwanese Restaurant at Burma Road for lunch. What I had ordered was the 3 Cups Chicken (as direct translate from Chinese 三杯鸡 san1 bei1 ji1). I don’t really know why it is called the 3 Cups Chicken but after eating it, it’s something nice and delicious. The chicken is cooked in Chinese style with soya sauce, not too salty, with extra spices and ingredient which I am not familiar with.

It’s a set meal that I had ordered which comes with 2 vegetable side dish, a soup, a dessert, fruits and a drink. It’s good that I can say. =)

It’s located on the junction of Jalan Kimberly and Jalan Burma. You will see it as you cruise along Jalan Burma, on your left.

If I am not mistaken, it’s doing a promotion right now. RM9 for a the set of Happy Ricebox Set with a drinks (mostly Vsoy soya bean). I have finally tried to XXL Crispy Chicken of Shih Lin Taiwan Street Snack Corner, it’s with rice because I ordered the happy ricebox set. It is said that the original price is RM11 but currently it’s doing a promotion, so it’s cheaper.

The Happy Ricebox Set consist of XXL Crispy Chicken, cold toufu, some salted vegetable, century egg and rice. Although the promotional poster there says that it include “drinks of your choice” but then they only serve VSOY soya bean and mineral water.

Overall, it’s something that can filled my stomach. The chicken is nice and boneless. It’s that they gives too little of vegetable, eat more vegetable is good for health. The toufu is special because it’s a cold one, and there’s the sweet century egg.

What do you think?

P/S: Surprisingly, the worker who is not a Chinese can speak mandarin. =)

SHIH LIN TAIWAN STREET SNACK has just opened an outlet at Gurney Plaza.

Just when I know about the new outlet at Gurney Plaza in Penang, I’ve went to try out. I miss the Oyster Mee Sua that I had a year ago in Singapore. That was the first time I get to know about Shih Lin which my brother who lives in Singapore introduced to me.

(Singapore’s Shihlin)

There’s another outlet in Penang and that is in Queensbay Mall near the Jusco supermarket. In Gurney Plaza, it’s located at the basement area.

And the above is the Shihlin at Gurney Plaza. The eating area is a little bit, the little bar on the side can only sit a maximum of 6 person.

They served only a few food, but I haven’t tried it all yet. I only have tried the Handmade Oyster Mee Sua. There’s the famous XXL Crispy Chicken, then Seafood Tempura, and Crispy Floss Egg Crepe. All of the food is below RM10 and without any taxes which I like the most.

Cut the talking and get into the Handmade Oyster Mee Sua. Mee Sua is a kind of very thin rice noodle. There’s chicken floss and a 3 fresh cooked oyster. When comparing to the Oyster Mee Sua by 600CC, this is better because the oyster is bigger than the one in 600CC though 600CC has more little oyster. As for taste, this taste more delicious to me but it was spicy. Do ask for less chilli. =) People don’t eat with a chopstick but with a spoon only instead.

Not bad, can give it a try. Next time, I’ll gonna try the XXL Crispy Chicken.

I was sick 2 days ago, I had an fever and I’ve recovered from the sickness. I don’t care what is it, I just what to replenish my body energy. Thus, I just eat whatever I want. Today’s lunch was to a Taiwanese restaurant on Burma Rd and the restaurant name is Kocha Taiwanese Delight Restaurant.

As far as I know, the restaurant is run by a Taiwanese woman and a local Malaysia Chinese man’s family. I have been there a lot of time and all of the time is during lunch time. Never been there at night before and take note that it is closed every Wednesday.

The lunch started serving the drinks first. My favourite drinks is the Taiwan Bubble Milk Tea with jelly pearls. I don’t like ice, asking a cold milk tea with bubble without ice cube is very nice, the drinks is still cold but no ice.

Here comes my dad’s all time favourite, the mini steamboat. It’s now all vegetable because my mom can’t eat meat at the moment. Usually dad will order pork or beef. There’s 2 type of soup, one is spicy and one is not spicy. I, myself prefer the spicy one but mom prefer the the not spicy one. Nevertheless, both is nice. Soup is nice and the ingredient is nice too.

Try eating with a bowl of rice with the pork sauce 鲁肉汁 (mandarin:lu3 rou4 zhi4), simply enjoying.

As for me, I ordered a set meal of eel rice or simply known as Unagi rice set in a Japanese restaurant. A set meal consist of soup, desserts, 2 little vegetables dishes, main dish and a drinks. This is my first time trying this, most of the time I will order the beef rice set but today I gave myself a change. Though, it’s a little bit expensive, RM19.80 for this set.

The eel or unagi is nice but it’s too dry, it will be nicer if there’s some sauce on it.

Appetizer should be eaten first but we ate our Taiwanese Dumpling in the end. It’s like Shanghai’s xiao long bao without the soup in it. Guess what? My mom said it taste nicer than a Shanghai’s xiao long bao. Well to me, I will like a xiao long bao more than this because the soup in a xiao long bao makes it special. No harm giving this a try right? You may like it.
