Beside the old Police Headquarter in Penang Rd, there’s a mamak coffee shop that opens till midnight. Do you know the old Majestic Cinema? It’s where the coffee shop is. My friend took me there one night to eat supper and he ordered fried Maggi noodle (fried instant noodle) with egg for me. It’s fried in tomyam style, a bit spicy and very nice. If you got nothing to do at night, can go eat fried noodles there.

Map here.

I stayed back after school today and I had my lunch in my school canteen today. I budget tight recently as I have been shopping a lot, so I have to reduce eating more junk food in school like nuggets, hot dogs etc etc.

Usually, during lunch in school, I will order rice with 3 dishes at RM2 and add extra nuggets, fried eggs or wan tan for RM1. Then another glass of drinks for RM0.50.

Today, I took a change, I ordered the famous Koay Teow Thng for lunch at only RM1.20. Of course it’s not enough for a growing kid like me, I didn’t even plan to just eat only 1 food for lunch. RM1.20 consist only a little bit of ingredient, like 3 fish balls, a meat ball, rice flat noodle and a little bit of meat. Many people loves the koay teow thng, during recess time, the stall always has the longest line.

Another food I ate today was the Char Koay Kak, which is most probably define as fried rice cake, it’s like the famous char koay teow in Penang, it uses rice cake instead of flat rice noodle. I will never order the RM1.20 one because it doesn’t consist of an egg, just add a little bit of RM0.30, you will get an egg with that.

The weather was so hot today, I had finished my bottle of water before school dismisses. Then I bought myself a glass of syrup juice for only RM0.30. Still remember a few years back, it’s only RM0.20 per glass, but because of inflation, everything goes up.

It’s the only place where I would eat Tomyam Noodle at Prangin Mall. There’s actually 2 places that you can find Tomyam Noodle, it’s on the same floor one is at the Kopitiam and another one is here at Shua Shua Le steamboat on 3rd floor a few shop next to the comdom shop at the center of 2 building.

Although this is more expensive than the one at the Kopitiam (RM4.50), this is selling at RM6.20. The soup is obviously sweeter and more sour. Lovely as there’s many ingredient in it, fish ball, crab meat, vegetable, mushroom, prawn. Adding in some dried fried garlic, it makes the soup taste better. You can tried it too. It’s not too spicy, but once in a while, it’s really hot, though most of the time is good to eat.

Best thing I like about this restaurant is there’s no service charge and GST. =) So far, I’ve only tried the noodle there, but not the steamboat which the restaurant actually serves. I won’t try it anyway because I am not a fan of cook-my-own-food.
