Seriously, I have think of opening a restaurant in the future. It won’t be a typical restaurant, I prefer opening a cafe/lounge where there’s food, nice beverage, and open space for people to chat, wifi Internet and free Internet web surfing for my customer. Penang has too little cafe already, there’s only Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Dome, Breeks and Big Apple Donuts. Whereas there’s a lot of choice instead of these famous one in the United States. If I got a chance (in the future), I should a cafe business in Penang too. =)

Starting a F and B business isn’t easy, need to look for ideal place where there’s a lot of crowds and demand, need to provide good food and (coffee), nice environment, place must be 101% hygienic clean, buy a lot of kitchen supplies and equipment, plan your menu and etc etc.

After I did some research online (for my own fun), there’s actually a lot of site that supplies restaurant supplies and equipment. One of which is Lionsdeal.com. From what I know, they even gives out kitchen equipment discount too. Selling not only plates and cutlery, they got chafer for buffet use too. Free shippings, free club membership and whole lots of deals too.

Anyway, this might be too early for me, but you can use this as your reference. Cheer!

A little more info about my dream cafe, there’s coffee (for sure and cheaper than Starbucks), nice snacks, cakes, soup, there’ll be free wifi connection. They main point is bring a good cafe envinronment to everyone at a affordable food price. Starbucks is for $$ kid, my cafe is for everyone.

My first time eating out at Toast Box, a kopitiam style cafe (etc. Old Town, Ya Kun Kopitiam) in Singapore was 2 years ago at Vivo City. I was in Singapore 2 weeks ago and once again, I went to have my afternoon tea there with my family. They provide free wifi and nice food.

Introducing my favourite Mee Siam. It’s actually fried bee hoon (rice noodle) pour in the soup or sauce which taste sour and there’s egg and bean sprouts. I like the sourness of the soup.

This is the Laksa. This is what we haven’t tried before and it was our first time. It’s not like any other laksa in Malaysia etc. Penang Assam Laksa, Johor Laksa, Siam Laksa, it’s their Singapore Katong Laksa, taste a bit like Curry Mee’s soup if you have tried Singapore Laksa before. I’ll say this so so only.

Toast Box

The nice food at Toast Box is their kaya toast, half boiled egg and I’ll add in Mee Siam for myself. We didn’t ordered toast because 2 bowl of noodles were enough for us.

There’s Toast Box in Malaysia, one is at Food Republic food court of Pavilion, KL and another one is at Sunway Piramid.

The hawkers set up food stall beside the Pulau Tikus market every night. I will go there to eat my dinner when mom’s not cooking like once in a week and one of the most ordered food there for me is the duck meat koay teow thng. The soup taste nice, I always ask for extra ingredient like duck meat and fish ball. Nice food at Pulau Tikis market.

The canteen is located at Prince George’s Park Residences at the NUS (National University Campus). My brother told me that anyone can go into the canteen to have their meal. I went to visit my brother at his university and when it comes to lunch, he brought us to the canteen at PGP Residences. There’s a lot of food stall at there.

Brother said that the Chinese food is not bad and so we gave it a try. The chef and the workers are from China and that’s why I mentioned authentic Chinese’s food.

This is what they called the Big Plate of Chicken (da4 pan2 ji1 大盘鸡). My brother’s girlfriend who is a Chinese can’t take the hotness and spiciness of it. Though, it’s not a problem for me. I like this dish a lot and the sauce taste like black pepper sauce but added with a lot of ingredient like potato, tomatoes, onion and more.

The 油菜 (you2 chai4) vegetable is more or less same like what we had in Malaysia. Nothing special about it to me.

As for this, this is the 竹笋 (zhu2 sun3), bamboo shoots or bamboo sprouts. It’s fried with minced meat. Taste good to me. =)

I don’t really know where was I, I only knew it was inner part of Damansara or uptown of Damansara. After driving around the shoplots area for a while, only then we found a restaurant to settle down for a while for lunch and only we continued our trip to Singapore.

The restaurant name is call Hometaste, it’s a Old Town Kopitiam lookalike but serve some different food.

Looks nice right. The rice is served in a square shape. It’s the Nasi Lemak that my dad ordered. The rice is not very oily and the chicken was quite nice. Can give it a try, though it’s not the best nasi lemak.

The Chicken Chop with Rice and Egg. It looked nice right? But it’s not as nice as it is. The chicken chop was crispy but it was salty. The fried rice is a little bit tasteless. I still prefer the nasi lemak.

Free wifi, not bad food, it’s a good place to sit down and talk, with friends.

Kovan is a a place in Singapore on the east coast. My brother told me that there’s a nice Hainan chicken rice at that area and he decided to bring us to try it out. The chicken rice stall is located in a food court near Heartland Mall at Hougang on Upper Serangoon Rd. You can take the MRT and get off at Kovan station and look for the food court beside Heartland Mall. =)

I like the chicken, I like the rice and I like the sauce on the chicken. We ordered a whole chicken and I ate almost half of it because of its tastiness. The sauce is not typical soy sauce but mixed with a little bit of oyster sauce and it’s not so waterish.

Good try in Singapore.
