I have visited Chili’s Grill Bar and Restaurant last Thursday at Gurney Plaza to celebrate a birthday for my friend and it’s also a little farewell gathering. It was my 2nd time visiting to Chili’s, the first time was one year ago and now I am there again.

It’s a restaurant from United State and offering Mexican-American food. We spent half an hour looking at the menu and did not know what to eat and in the end, we asked for the recommendation from the chef.

As for starter, we got a Triple Dipper. It has chicken wings, eggrolls and another one taste like prawn or tempura. From what the menu, it says Chicken Crispers, Boneless Buffalo Wings and Southwestern Eggrolls. I like the chicken wing and I like the egg roll, it’s nice when dipping it in the honey-mustard sauce and blue cheese.

This is not a dish or ice cream or salad. It’s actually the sour cream, guacamole, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo. I don’t what’s that all except the greens taste like Chinese’ salted vegetable. All these are to eat with the fajitas.

From the menu, there’s a recommeded logo on the Mushroom Jack Fajitas but I did not order that because I’ve tried it before last time. This time, I ordered something different and it’s the combo sizzling fajitas. It has beef and chicken and also vegetable. It’s a little bit like tepanyakki but this is quite nice. Though, I prefer Mushroom Jack Fajitas because it has mushroom. I love mushrooms. =)

Lastly, the 2nd main course is the Fajita Quesadillas which is chicken and steak with grilled onions and some chesse in the toasted tortillas. It’s different from the combo fajita because that one is you wrap yourself and this is already in it. The tortilla is a bit like the Malay’s chapati but this is nicer. =)

Tips by email2me :

When you go chilis, you should order the tortilla chips with the cold salsa sauce dip. UNLIMITED REFILL !!! EAT ALL YOU CAN!!! at a flat price RM9.90 Sauce and Chip both unlimited

Then order one unlimited sodas or juice …… one big bags of straw …. whole party can share ….. this is the lamest I can think of. But who cares …. nowadays economy are bad you know …. lol

Looking for some nice Chinese restaurant in Penang? Here I got one that I always visit. It’s Feng Wei 风味 Chinese Restaurant that located on Jalan Sri Bahari which is also right opposite The Ship In Town (Western Cuisine).

It’s open during lunch hour and during dinner time, so in between this two time, the restaurant is off for break.

Most of my visit to the restaurant is during lunch time.

Let’s get into the food. There’s only 3 people and we ordered 3 dishes and it’s enough to us.

First, we got vegetable, kangkung fried with sambal and shrimps. Not very spicy but taste good.

Next is the black pepper fish fillet in pieces with lots of onion. This is quite nice as that was the first time trying this.

One of their famous dish is this Chinese Softshell Turtle in a pot (cantones: shui2 yu2 bo4). Cooked with mushrooms and other chinese spices, the gravy is nice to eat with rice and you should this out.

Last but not least, there’s a dessert for us. It’s a hot homecooked soya bean juice.

I noticed that there’s a lot of tourist as well as local like to visit the restaurant. They do have room for private function like a family gathering.

Located on Jalan Sri Bahari. Click here for the map.

It’s an early Hari Raya morning, a lot of Nasi Kandar restaurants is off for one day and dad brought me to a restaurant at Tanjung Bungah. It’s not actually an Indian restaurant but it’s run by Indians and it’s actually a multi cuisine restaurant which it speaks from the signboard in front of the restaurant.

People has been telling me they got nice roti canai and we went to try it out in the morning for breakfast. It’s located on Jalan Tanjong Bungah and is just right opposite the Crown Jewel Prince Hotel, Sandy Beach Hotel and the Dalat International School.

It’s morning and I can see tourist having their meals there as well as some locals. It’s a restaurant that has a nice pretty nice interior which more or like to attract tourist. They do serve western food as well as some local cuisine and I think the main attractive food is the roti canai, tandori and sort of.

The main food that we were to eat was the Roti Canai. We ordered a few pieces and asked for oiless one. It’s actually not oiless, but it’s less oily than what you normal order. To me, all roti canai is the same but this one with less oil is nice. Though, if it’s crispier like Roti Prata in Singapore, then it will be good.

The dalcha gravy for the roti canai was nice but then we ordered a curry chicken for the roti canai. I’ll say this is nice, it’s a little bit spicy and I like that the chicken is cut into small pieces so it’s easy to eat. Do ask for more gravy, it’s very little.

I ordered a plate of Maggi Goreng or known as Fried Maggi Noodle (a kind of instant noodle). It’s different from what I had at a mamak store, it’s nothing near to like a maggi mee. To me, I’ll say I like the one at the mamak store than this one. Waited 15 minutes for this and I think I won’t be ordering this again on my next visit.

As for the price, it’s a little bit more than mamak store because it’s a restaurant with nice table and chairs, wifi and located in a tourist area. That’s explain the pricing but it’s still not very expensive.

In this post, I guess it will be more food pr0n then my personal review on the food. It was a food blogger gathering last night at this nice little Swiss restaurant/cafe named Edelweiess. It was my first time having meal there at Edelweiss. I read about this restaurant in the papers and other food blogs and wanted to visit it for a long time and the chanced is given. Thanks to Lingzie for organizing such a nice gathering for the food blogger.

Edelweiss is a swiss restaurant-cum-cafe with a nyonya interior feel located on the heritage street, Armenian St (Lebuh Armenian). It wouldn’t be hard looking for the restaurant, the street is short and look for a little swiss flag hanging outside and that’s Edelweiss.

Let’s get into some food, shall we?

Appetizer/Starter

First up, we got a soup and some bread for appetizer or starter. It’s a pumpkin soup and tasted sweet. It’s not really that creamy, but it’s a good try. I think it would be nice if it’s creamier. I love creamy soup.

Edelweiss by you.

Breads! We got garlic toast and a lots of onion and cheese topping bread. I like the onion one because there’s cheese on top.

Main Course

That’s a huge smoked pork sausage. Sorry that it’s non-halal because it’s pork. I would love to try that.

It’s about pork for the whole night with a exception of lamb. Above is a smoked pork belly. There’s the fat and the non-fat part. Wonder what will it taste like at of the skin and fat part. The worm-liked is actually mashed potato, don’t worry, it’s nice.

A little pork rib served with french fries and salad. French fries seems to be more than the mashed potato. But what were we being there is to taste food. =) When stomach goes full, you won’t feel comfortable.

The only non-pork main course among alls. It’s a roast leg of lamb. Seems nice, but I don’t really like to eat lamb. There’s always smell.

The double curry pork sausages. It’s two huge sausages with sweet chilli sauce and curry powder as topping. I’ve tried it and I like it more than my Gammon Ham below. The curry powder is not that spicy but as a Chinese (Chinese loves spicy food), exchanging the curry powder with the dried chilli powder, I think it will be hot.

Here comes my Gammon Ham with onion gravy as topping. Yes, it’s my first time trying this food. I’ve never ate it elsewhere before. It’s a thick pork ham with it’s skin on and served with worm-liked delicious small mash potato and salad. The ham is hard to cut but then I eventually ate all of it. I didn’t even bother about the fat skin. I just gotto do more exercise for now.

I ate it with some mustard and well, the same thing I got to say is, it’s hard (to cut).

Desserts

We got a apple flan and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. There’s apple and there’s egg. Like it. It’s different from apple pie, it’s not hot and because the existence of egg makes it taste, special (to me).

I forgot to talk about the price, it’s a little high for the pricing. But then it’s a good place to eat out. once in a while it would be good. Nice environment, little bar and wifi zone. Good place I’d say.

Edelweiss Cafe Website

There’s a cafe and a restaurant at CRC, Penang. The restaurant is a Chinese restaurant, I’ve been there a few time, but this time, my parents bought me to lunch at the cafe in CRC, the Chinese Recreation Club. Until then I only know that they do serve some nice food.

Cooked Jawa Mee. The picture seems nice, but I didn’t try it. Sorry I can’t give any comment to you guys.

IMG_5802

Fried Noodle. Not that bad, but fried noodle is not my favourite food. I like fried Koay Teow more.

IMG_5803

Here comes my ordered Chicken Chop. It’s asian style with sweet BBQ sauce on top. The fries is too little and the chicken is not very small. However, the price is a little bit expensive than what I had outside.

Famous fried chicken. This is a must try. It crispy and taste good, and there’s some special chili sauce too. Dip it and eat it. Remember to drink a lot of water after eating fried chicken. =)

Lastly, anoteher famous is the roti babi (ignored the photo, focus on a wrong point). Roti babi is bread stuffed with minced pork. Quite nice too, there’s chicken as alternative to pork.

If I am not mistaken, it’s doing a promotion right now. RM9 for a the set of Happy Ricebox Set with a drinks (mostly Vsoy soya bean). I have finally tried to XXL Crispy Chicken of Shih Lin Taiwan Street Snack Corner, it’s with rice because I ordered the happy ricebox set. It is said that the original price is RM11 but currently it’s doing a promotion, so it’s cheaper.

The Happy Ricebox Set consist of XXL Crispy Chicken, cold toufu, some salted vegetable, century egg and rice. Although the promotional poster there says that it include “drinks of your choice” but then they only serve VSOY soya bean and mineral water.

Overall, it’s something that can filled my stomach. The chicken is nice and boneless. It’s that they gives too little of vegetable, eat more vegetable is good for health. The toufu is special because it’s a cold one, and there’s the sweet century egg.

What do you think?

P/S: Surprisingly, the worker who is not a Chinese can speak mandarin. =)
