I am a fan of Abu Mamak Stall that’s located on Jalan Dato Koyah, somewhere turn in when you see Kayu on Penang Rd. Nightlife people might know about this place already and I love their Fried Maggi Mee a lot. Best. And recently, after posting a live post on awayfromcomputer.com, a reader intro me another mamak stall called Ali, but it’s not in town, it’s close to Pulau Tikus area right opposite PTPL college.

The stall is on the road side of a small lane, with tables and chairs placed on the pavement. I am not sure whether Ali or the owner opporate the stall legally or not. But seems so many people eat there, it’s not a problem already.

We didn’t know what’s famous. The Malay-Indian guy introduced us some food. There’s the susu lembu milo which literally is hot milk with Milo powder. It’s good because it’s hot and it’s RM2.20.

Then I ordered a Fried Maggi Mee, curious about how different is this with Abu’s. The serving look the same, in fact the egg is prettier and the chicken tasted different. The noodle has a garlic taste which Abu don’t have but I go for Abu’s. Why? Because Abu’s is cheaper, this one at Ali cost RM7.20! OMG. Expensive.

My friend ordered a Pattaya Fried Rice. As you know, Pattaya fried rice is a very standard thing, which is fried rice wrapped with egg. This is different because is fried by mamak and it tasted spicy to me and the rice is pretty dark, and wet. My friend say not nice, I felt quite not bad. Different people have different taste. If you like dark fried rice and spicy, this might be a good one for you.

Ali, went there before or not? Abu and Ali are so not related by the way.

Recently, I went to Kocha Taiwanese Restaurant at Burma Road for lunch. What I had ordered was the 3 Cups Chicken (as direct translate from Chinese 三杯鸡 san1 bei1 ji1). I don’t really know why it is called the 3 Cups Chicken but after eating it, it’s something nice and delicious. The chicken is cooked in Chinese style with soya sauce, not too salty, with extra spices and ingredient which I am not familiar with.

There’s a cafe and a restaurant at CRC, Penang. The restaurant is a Chinese restaurant, I’ve been there a few time, but this time, my parents bought me to lunch at the cafe in CRC, the Chinese Recreation Club. Until then I only know that they do serve some nice food.

Cooked Jawa Mee. The picture seems nice, but I didn’t try it. Sorry I can’t give any comment to you guys.

Fried Noodle. Not that bad, but fried noodle is not my favourite food. I like fried Koay Teow more.

Here comes my ordered Chicken Chop. It’s asian style with sweet BBQ sauce on top. The fries is too little and the chicken is not very small. However, the price is a little bit expensive than what I had outside.

Famous fried chicken. This is a must try. It crispy and taste good, and there’s some special chili sauce too. Dip it and eat it. Remember to drink a lot of water after eating fried chicken. =)

Lastly, anoteher famous is the roti babi (ignored the photo, focus on a wrong point). Roti babi is bread stuffed with minced pork. Quite nice too, there’s chicken as alternative to pork.

I was sick 2 days ago, I had an fever and I’ve recovered from the sickness. I don’t care what is it, I just what to replenish my body energy. Thus, I just eat whatever I want. Today’s lunch was to a Taiwanese restaurant on Burma Rd and the restaurant name is Kocha Taiwanese Delight Restaurant.

As far as I know, the restaurant is run by a Taiwanese woman and a local Malaysia Chinese man’s family. I have been there a lot of time and all of the time is during lunch time. Never been there at night before and take note that it is closed every Wednesday.

The lunch started serving the drinks first. My favourite drinks is the Taiwan Bubble Milk Tea with jelly pearls. I don’t like ice, asking a cold milk tea with bubble without ice cube is very nice, the drinks is still cold but no ice.

Here comes my dad’s all time favourite, the mini steamboat. It’s now all vegetable because my mom can’t eat meat at the moment. Usually dad will order pork or beef. There’s 2 type of soup, one is spicy and one is not spicy. I, myself prefer the spicy one but mom prefer the the not spicy one. Nevertheless, both is nice. Soup is nice and the ingredient is nice too.

Try eating with a bowl of rice with the pork sauce 鲁肉汁 (mandarin:lu3 rou4 zhi4), simply enjoying.

As for me, I ordered a set meal of eel rice or simply known as Unagi rice set in a Japanese restaurant. A set meal consist of soup, desserts, 2 little vegetables dishes, main dish and a drinks. This is my first time trying this, most of the time I will order the beef rice set but today I gave myself a change. Though, it’s a little bit expensive, RM19.80 for this set.

The eel or unagi is nice but it’s too dry, it will be nicer if there’s some sauce on it.

Appetizer should be eaten first but we ate our Taiwanese Dumpling in the end. It’s like Shanghai’s xiao long bao without the soup in it. Guess what? My mom said it taste nicer than a Shanghai’s xiao long bao. Well to me, I will like a xiao long bao more than this because the soup in a xiao long bao makes it special. No harm giving this a try right? You may like it.

Wednesday is the day where I and my parents will go out for dinner. Typically, on this day, they don’t go to gym nor any sports game nor any meetings. It’s like a family night for us. As for other days, either mom cook for dinner or mom take-away food for me to eat at home.

On one fine Wednesday night, we didn’t know where to eat and I suggested to go for Japanese food as you know I love Japanese food a lot. 2 restaurants came in my mind, the jail theme Japanese restaurant in town or Jurin at Pulau Tikus? This is because this is two of the so many restaurant in Penang that we haven’t visit before. Well, we went to Jurin as it’s near to our house.

It’s a well-decorated Japanese restaurant, you can see through the inside whenever you pass by Belissa Row on Burma Road. Though, I still feel it lack the Japanese feeling. There’s smoking and non-smoking area in the restaurant, which is a good thing as I hate smoke. It stink, it smell, it suck.

Going through the food, we had finally made our order. Dad and mom shared a set and I myself a set. We had a raw salmon sashimi for appertizer. I do not recommend this for order because it’s so expensive for a freaking 6 pieces of raw salmon at RM24.

It’s better for you to order my dinner set which has a grill salmon fish and again 4 slices of salmon sashimi. With vegetables, miso soup and fruits, it’s only RM34. Grill salmon is nicely grill though I prefer it not to be that dry. At least some sauce is pour on it will be better.

Dad and mom’s was a tepanyaki chicken set. They don’t really know well about Japanese food and 1 of which they know is tepanyaki, the Japanese grill and fried plate. They said it was nice and I didn’t try it.

Overall, it’s pretty full after the dinner. Food was nice to eat, but we are not going to order for sashimi next time. It’s expensive!
