Here comes some cheap Thai food hawker stall that I’ve visited recently for lunch. Few days ago, I went to the Pinang Delicious Food Court on Macalister Road for lunch. I heard that there’s some nice fried rice at there from friend, so I decided to order fried rice for me for lunch that day.

The fried rice is actually from a Thai Food hawker stall and they serve various Thai dishes too but mainly fried rice.

So, I ordered a Thai Tomyam fried rice (RM4). I found it pretty nice, but a little bit not so dry, and surprised to find crab stick in there which makes it tasted sweet. The tomyam taste was just nice, not too strong and feels good. If you are craving from strong tomyam, it maybe not enough for you. In my opinion, if it’s drier, then it’s perfect!

Mom ordered a Pad Thai With Tomyam Soup served with white rice (RM4). The tomyam soup was pretty sour and the pad thai was filled with vegetable. I like the tomyam soup more. =D

Breakfast at New Pakma Prawn Hokkien Mee

P1030175

Besides the famous 888 Hokkien Prawn Mee on Lebuh Presgrave (known as sa tiao lor), I now found another hokkien prawn noodle which can add siu yok / sio bak (roasted pork) into the soup and this place serves Hokkien Prawn Mee as breakfast and lunch. The name is New Pakma Prawn Mee, located on Burma Rd, near to PTPL College and it’s just right in the Pakma Food Court.

P1030173

I like having siu yok / sio bak (roasted pork) in the Hokkien Prawn Mee because it’s just something more delicious and yummy, also can say that I am a siu yok / sio bak (roasted pork) fans. The soup is different from the Lebuh Presgrave’s as it has more prawn taste instead of spiciness. Though, the price of a bowl with siu yok / sio bak (roasted pork) is RM5.50 compare to the Lebuh Presgrave’s which is only RM4.50 only. Nevertheless, it’s

Pan Mee is always a soup based to me when I was in Penang. Later then I got approached with dry pan mee, which basically pan mee with soy sauce. Stalls in Penang has “Sarawak” in front of the name “pan mee”, I asked my Sarawakian friend about pan mee at there but he told me he doesn’t really know about pan mee being famous in Sarawak. Until now, I don’t know where is the really originality of pan mee. Last week, a blogger friend, Yong Xiang brought me to Taipan, USJ there to try out a famous Chilli Pan Mee.

Basically, Chilli Pan Mee is actually dry pan mee later then add in the dry chilli paste, stir your noodle and it will become Chilli Pan Mee. I was curious and I am a spicy eater so I ordered a bowl to eat.

It comes with a soup in case your noodle is too dry, you can add some soup to wet your noodle.

Normal Pan Mee with dry ikan bilis and minced meat and an egg. Simple as that, but when the homemade spicy chilli paste is added, it tasted all different. And what I wanted to say is, it’s really very very spicy! It’s different from bitting the little cut chilli, or chilli sauce. The Chinese called it 麻辣 (mandarin: ma1 la4) which numb your taste bud and give you a spicy feel. It’s not instant and it’s the most spiciest feel ever. I saw Yong Xiang added 3 scoop of the chilli paste and I added 2 scoop and it’s really very spicy. I wonder how he could eat it.

For newbie, I recommend you to start with half a scoop to feel the taste first. If it’s not enough only add more. If you have a bad stomach, you better don’t eat it. You will feel it when you go to toilet the next day.

We also ordered a bowl of 水饺 (mandarin: shui2 jiao3) Chinese Water Dumplings. This is good, something which balance the taste buds from spiciness. What’s so good is the soup of course, but the best is the dumpling which is big and filled with many ingredient in it. I like this.

Overall, this place is pretty cool, but next time for sure I will not add in so many chilli paste already, it’s crazy.

Victor and Yong Xiang.

I checked around and this restaurant is not only available in Taipan, USJ but several places. So you can check it out if you have never been to before and want to try some spiciness.

Hokkien Prawn Mee at Sukimye Hainan Kopitiam

Sukimye Hainan Kopitiam is one of the two eatery outlet right outside, and nearest to Taylor’s University College Lakeside College, don’t talk about the one in campus. I went there once, and I went there twice. This was my second time going there as the stall that I usually go didn’t open on that day. So I went there for lunch.

Looking around the menu, nothing interest me but I saw the Penang Prawn Noodles which is pretty cool as I was quite craving for my Penang hometown food, so I ordered one to try and see how it’s taste like and how when it is compare to my hometown’s.

Here comes the Hokkien Mee or known as Prawn Noodle outside Penang. The chili paste is put separately and what’s different is there’s the fish biscuit which we call in Chinese which we don’t find in Penang. After eating, there’s prawn taste, it’s kinda spicy, a lot of noodle but less bee hoon. Overall it’s acceptable yet it’s still so not the same with Penang’s. I figure it out and I think why, I think that there’s no lard in the soup. Yeah, I think that is the problem.

There’s still many food at there you can try out. ^.^

Sukimye Hainan Kopitiam is at Jalan PJS7/15 Bandar Sunway (Next to Taylor’s University College) Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, 46150. They have a Facebook fan page too. You can check it out.
