Chung Ling High School’s Maggi Mee

IMG_3496 by nicholaschan

I studied in Chung Ling High School in Penang, I love my school’s canteen food because there’s many many food to choose from. There are economy rice, koay teow thng, lam mee, wan tan mee, hokkien mee, curry mee, char koay teow, fried beehoon, jawa mee and more.

At the wan tan mee stall, I like to order a bowl of wan tan mee but not with the normal wan tan noodle instead with instant maggi noodle. I like the noodle and last time when I was in school, I almost everyday buy a bowl to eat for breakfast. It’s nice.

Now I have graduated from high school and I seldom get to eat it already. Today I went back to school to do settle some stuff and grabbed the chance to buy a bowl of it to eat, delicious! RM1.50 maggi noodle with 5 little wan tan dumpling. =)

There’s a noodle chain store in Guangzhou that has a very funny English name, it’s called Let Me In but in doesn’t means Let Me In in Chinese. It’s 靓面轩 (cantonese:leng min hin). It’s famous for the Wan Tan Noodle (Wan Tan Mee).

I went there before for breakfast during my Guangzhou trip and it’s located on the Shang Xia Jiu Pedestrian Street just right across the Holiday Inn Shifu Hotel. It’s very easy to find.

The waitress recommended their Zi Zun Wan Tan Mee 自尊云吞面. I ordered a bowl to try out and seriously it’s good. I like the noodle very much, very springy and crunch, it’s not soft and the soup tasted good too. There’s a few wan tan balls lying below the noodle and it’s big.

One thing that all the Wan Tan Mee in Guangzhou is soup based and not like here that we get to choose between dry or soup.

Besides that, I ordered a vegetable in oyster sauce for side dish. Compairing this with the same thing here in Malaysia, it’s not so oily.

From what I’ve known, Let Me In can be found in several location in Guangzhou, it’s a noodle chain store.

Wan Tan Mee at Lebuh Melaka

Hohoho, it’s Wan Tan Mee time. This time I’ll take you to Melaka Street which is a junction on Anson Rd. I didn’t know about this place until my mom introduced it to me. She said it’s nice so I went to give it a try.

Wan Tan Mee

It’s located in Tai Hin Cafe, a kopitiam on the corner of Melaka Street and Anson Rd. It’s just right across Anson Rd Market, if you can find the market, you can find the Wan Tan Mee.

I ordered a small plate of Wan Tan Mee and the plate was indeed very small and there’s only 3 wan tan. Well, personally think that the noodle is not that nice, not so springy, but the wan tan or so call dumplings in English is not bad.

For nice noodle, I like the one on Chulia Street and at Padang (will cover on it next time :] ).

Wan Tan Mee at Pulau Tikus Market

Wan Tan Mee by you.

It was nice Koay Teow Thng at Pulau Tikus Market and now, it is nice Wan Tan Mee at Pulau Tikus Market.

Well, I got to say that it is nice. You can ask for fried wan tan instead of cooked one. I prefer fried wan tan, it’s more crispy but then some people don’t like it. The noodle is nice and I recommend this at Pulau Tikus market food stalls area.
